Peppa Pig number two!

Here is my 2nd Peppa Pig cake, larger than the last one & made in ridiculous humidity so it was really tricky to cover! You cannot see on the pics but I added a lustre dust to the dress & glitter flakes on the wings so she was shimmery & sparkly!

Smint up!

Our wonderful manager announced he would be leaving us :-( so naturally I started thinking about what cake to make for him. We came up with the idea for a Smint mint as he loves to pop one before he goes to meetings! Then on Thursday he announced he's not leaving afterall, hurrah! We are all overjoyed and because it was such a cool idea, I decided to still make the cake to let him know we are happy he's staying! Love you Whitton, don't even think about leaving again!

Dome topped cupcakes

Lazy Saturday, no plans, weather not so great. I thought I'd take the opportunity to play with some of my new equipment starting with my grass/hair nozzle. I created these cute garden cupcakes with green grass frosting, fondant flowers & a cute little ladybird. The nozzle was tricky to use at first but, as with most things, practice makes perfect. I also think my frosting was a bit on the warm side. Looking forward to trying this again.
Then I wanted to try the lovely dome tops I've seen on Carinas Cupcakes. She is absolutely amazing & makes stunning cupcakes. She kindly shared her technique on Facebook the other day so I thought I'd give it a go. Not too bad for a first attempt. I really like this finish for cuppies, fondant is my favourite! These luscious lips were shined up with some edible silk from Rainbow Dust, the dome was white chocolate fondant. Absolutely yummy!
This was made with my new quilting impression mat. I have wanted one of these for a very long time & I love this effect. I imagine I will be using this one alot!
A silky smooth dome top with a pretty primrose, another new cutter
These bunnies are adorable, they'd be perfect for a baby shower!
Finally, this was made with my flower embossing mat. simple yet effective.

Peppa Pig

This cake was for Avy-Mai's 2nd Birthday last month. She loves Peppa Pig so I created this fairy version for her. It was vanilla cake with pink buttercream! I really enjoyed making this one, kids cakes are so much fun. This went down so well at the party, I have another Peppa to make this month!

Happy Birthday to me!

Last month was my birthday and I whipped up some cupcakes for the folks at work. I got a bit carried away and ended up with about 70 cakes! I made Bakewell cupcakes (almond flavour sponge with jam centre & soft fondant icing topped with a cherry), Jaffa cake cupcakes (vanilla cake with orange frosting & a jaffa cake baked in the bottom of the case (recipe from the very lovely Linda of Buttercup Cakes) Then theres my Ice Cream collection! I had this idea ages ago and I've been waiting to make them! First up is the Neapolitan, a vanilla & chocolate swirl cupcake with strawberry frosting topped with chocolate sprinkles & freeze dried strawberry bits. Then its the Banana Split, a vanilla & chocolate swirl cupcake with banana frosting topped with chocolate drizzle & sugar sprinkles. Last is the Caramel Fudge Sundae, a caramel cupcake topped with caramel sauce, fudge pieces and chocolate coated honeycomb. Absolutely deeeeeeeelicious! Roll on next year...
